The annual Salmon Festival in Vernonia, always held on the first Saturday of October, celebrates the yearly return of wild salmon. Featuring music, food and artisan vendors, kids' activities, and the Knee Deep in Salmon auction, the festival over looks Rock Creek, flowing adjacent to Hawkins Park, where wild salmon are often seen swimming upstream and spawning.
